With collaborative input from our teachers, staff, administration, parents, and students, the PTO has been hard at work this school year improving Sonoran Sky with educational materials, resources, and great community events. Take a look at what we've been up to lately!
We completed our new Science Lab--Come take a look!
We're building a new Outdoor Classroom and gardens with Apex Fun Run funds, in conjunction with an ASU Master Gardener and numerous volunteer parents
We're beautifying the front of the school with an engraved brick courtyard
We renewed our classroom software subscriptions (Razz Kids, Learning A-Z, Brain Pop, Brain Pop, Jr., and Brain Pop, Español)
We brought in author Barbara Gowan, a new Artist in Residence
We supplied library materials, teaching tools, and classroom supplies to each classroom
We purchased updated non-fiction and fiction books for our library
We bought new display cases for the library
We purchased covers for classroom iPads and tablets
We bought supplies for Nurse Brosnan
We purchased workroom supplies, such as paper cutters, staplers, and pencil sharpeners
And we're planning a lot of fun community activites for April, including
The School Carnival, April 12, 11-3pm
Science Night and Science Fair, April 22, 6-8 pm
The Art Walk, April 28
The Spring Book Fair, April 28-May 2
Thank you, Thank you, for your generosity! Your voluntary donations and support of our fundraising efforts make all sorts of wonderful things possible at Sonoran Sky!
In Celebration of Earth Day, Sonoran Sky Elementary will be hosting our very first Science Night on April 22, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm. This exciting event will:
+ Debut our new Science Lab and Outdoor Classroom (under construction!)
+ Offer science demonstrations by members of our staff and community
+ Showcase classroom science projects and a student science fair
Are you interested in participating in the Science Fair? Please download the information packet and entry form below!

Planning for the new outdoor classroom and garden space is underway and it is going to be amazing!
We need your help! Do you have any contacts or leads that might be able to help us with this project? Pavers, paver installation, gravel, garden soil, gardening supplies, plants, shrubs, trees, metalwork... We need it all. Anything we can secure as a donation or at a reduced rate will help us stretch our project funds as far as possible. If you can help with the new outdoor classroom, please contact Kristen Neugebauer or Bianca Cords.
