Vandalism over Memorial Day Weekend

We hope you are enjoying these first few days of summer vacation! As always, behind-the-scenes work continues at school even when the kids are away. Usually that is good news, however, today we must share some bad news.

Sometime over the Memorial day weekend, vandals entered the Sonoran Sky Outdoor Classroom and set fire to our newly installed picnic tables and benches, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

We are devasted to inform you that the Outdoor Classroom project has sustained quite a bit of damage. Most of the new tables and several of the new benches have been burned or melted, and areas of the the paver stones are damaged as well. Additional acts of vandalism occured in other outdoor areas around the campus.

This terrible event saddens us all, especially after the excitement, dedication, and hard work from so many of us this year. However, we are not going to let this small setback stop our progress. We are committed to education, and will take the necessary steps to ensure a safe and fun learning space for our school community.

We are working closely with Scottsdale Police and the PV Schools district, but we need your help! If you have any information about this terrible crime, please contact the Scottsdale Police Department at (480) 312-5000, or provide your information anonymously to Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.

Please follow the Sonoran Sky PTO Community on Facebook.com/sskypto for breaking news and current information.
