Yes, this is also a fundraiser, so we ASK that all students reach out to their family, friends, neighbors and community to ask for donations towards our SSKY $20,000 fundraising goal. Your RAT webpage can facilitate all donation asks online.
We need to raise $20,000 to fund our existing obligations, including essential things like back-to-school start-up materials, Artists-in-Residence, science instruction with full-time Master Gardener Karen Klein, electronic resources like Chromebooks, important additional professional development for our teachers, and so much more.
If we raise more than the $20,000 we need to meet our financial obligations, those additional funds will go directly to our new 1st – 6th grade playground equipment. So, for example, if we raise $25,000, $5,000 will go towards the playground and, if we are successful fundraisers, it may even get installed over THIS winter break! Kids could come back in January to a NEW PLAYGROUND!

Have you been planning your Halloween Dress Up Costume?
As part of our RAT Fun, SSKY Students and Teachers
may come to school in costume on October 31st. But, there is a stipulation . . . you must dress as your favorite book character AND you must bring the book (or a copy of the book cover) with you so you can share your character with the class!
All costumes must be age appropriate and no weapons of any type may be brought to school.

Each student is invited to bring in a Guest Reader to class on their grade’s special day. This Guest Reader can be a parent, grandparent, family member, neighbor or friend. There is nothing fancy to it.
We ask that Guest Readers just come at your student’s specific grade level time, sign in at the office and be ready to read in small groups with your kiddo and some friends for 30 minutes.
There is no need to RSVP
and you can bring your own books or borrow some from the classroom.
For students that do not have a guest reader that day,
teachers will use the buddy system with other guest readers in attendance.
