We are experiencing interesting times in Arizona education. The PTO remains committed to supporting our students, teachers, and community. As we learn information, we will share it with you. This is a good time to make sure your contact information is up to date with the office and that you are receiving Mr. Dawson’s Navigator emails and have access to our PTO social media sites.
As always, we’ll try to answer any questions we can. You should also feel free to contact Mr. Dawson with your concerns.
What is #RedforEd? A nonpartisan movement advocating on behalf of public education in Arizona. Read this message from our PV Governing Board HERE. Our teachers and staff recommend visiting Arizona Educators United to learn more.
Will there be a walk out today? There is not a RedforEd walk out today on Sonoran Sky’s campus. There will be Walk Ins Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. The Monday walk-in will start at 8am at the corner of Scottsdale and Sweetwater.
Some campuses in our district, mostly middle schools and high schools, are participating in the the National School Walkout Friday, April 20th at 10 a.m. local time. The National School Walkout is meant to honor and mourn students, faculty, and staff who lost their lives in school shootings across the country. This is totally separate from the school funding issue. Please read Mr. Dawson’s Navigator or Dr. Lee’s email dated April 17th for more information. (If you are not receiving these, please check with the front office and make sure your primary email on file is correct.)
What is a walk-in? A demonstration by educators, parents, and community members prior to the start of school to raise awareness about education in AZ and to show unity in the community.
Will this impact the school day? No. The walk-in will not disrupt any part of the regular school schedule. The playground will open at 8:25 and classes will start at 8:45.
What happens to our kids during a walk out? Again, we have to wait to see what will happen. The District and our campus are making plans. Here is the latest information from the District. Please follow us on social media as we will be sharing information as we receive it.
Everyone’s highest priority is making sure our kids are safe and we will work together to ensure their well-being.
We will share the best information we have, when we have concrete information.

*SUPER IMPORTANT* – identify your child’s current grade (NOT their grade in the fall). For example, if they are in preschool today, identify them as PK not Kinder. All students will be automatically “graduated” up one grade in June.
