The Sonoran Sky Elementary PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that invests significant funds into our school each year, beyond the minimum funding provided by the state of Arizona.
The Sonoran Sky PTO asks families to make a contribution to the Team Thunderbird capital campaign in support of school-wide programs ranging from our unique Wonderland Garden, Artist-In-Residence programs, to a variety of capital improvements, such as playground equipment and exterior shade structures. Team Thunderbird also provides the funds necessary for our signature events like Trunk or Treat, Science Fair, STEM Night, and Art Walk, to name just a few! Without your support of Team Thunderbird, we would not have these programs or events.
If your family is in a position to support Team Thunderbird, we hope you will consider making a donation. Participation in our community and contributions of all sizes are immensely appreciated.
Together we can continue to build and support the Sonoran Sky community that we love!

In the Fall, our Read-a-Thon gives our extended family, friends, and neighbors the opportunity to support public education by sponsoring a child’s reading journey. This fundraiser is typically associated with a larger identified need at our school. The past two years’ proceeds from this fundraiser built our award-winning Wonderland Outdoor Classroom, Garden, and Amphitheatre. Future identified improvements may include updated playground equipment, soccer goals, additional outdoor shade structures, and a modern theater sound system.
Parents Night Out
This adults-only evening event gives parents, caregivers, and community partners an opportunity to socialize in a fun setting while also supporting our school.
Community Business Partners
We solicit donations from area businesses as a channel for business owners to support an excelling local public school in exchange for advertising and exposure to our grateful community. Interested business owners can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additionally, we have several smaller streams of revenue, including clothing and yearbook sales, enrichment classes, Spring Fling, Parents Night Out, Scholastic Book Fairs, food trucks at events, Box Top collections, Dine Arounds other similar retail activities.
Where Does the Money Go?
We encourage you to participate and give as you are able, to the benefit of our children. The PTO takes pride in being good stewards of your donations, and we encourage you to attend our open PTO meetings the first Tuesday of every month to see firsthand. Every parent is a member of the PTO, and we welcome your insight, experience, and opinions as we work to sustain and enhance our interdisciplinary learning environment at Sonoran Sky.
