Team Thunderbird Fundraising
The Sonoran Sky Elementary PTO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that invests significant funds into our school each year, beyond the minimum funding provided by the state of Arizona.
In a typical school year, the Sonoran Sky PTO asks families to make a contribution to Team Thunderbird to support school-wide programs ranging from our unique Wonderland Garden, to the Artist-In-Residence Program, to a variety of capital improvements, such as playground equipment and shade structures.
The 2020-2021 school year will be different from any other our families have experienced. As our community faces the Covid-19 global pandemic, we must recognize that our world has changed and families face a wide variety of changed circumstances. Further, we do not know what this year will look like or the events we may be able to have. We may need to reimagine some traditions that students look forward to each year.
And yet, we remain the Sonoran Sky Community, where parents, teachers and students work together to form a supportive and rich educational experience for our children. While there are many unknown factors surrounding the coming school year, we do know that our teachers will require support – in the form of web cameras and additional software subscriptions, if nothing else. Additionally, Wonderland Garden, which makes our school so special, will require maintenance and upkeep so it will be ready as an outdoor learning environment when the students return to the classroom.
Because these needs remain despite so many challenges, if your family is in a position to support Team Thunderbird during the 2020-2021 school year, we hope you will consider making a donation. Participation in our community and contributions of all sizes are appreciated. Every family that makes a gift will receive a Team Thunderbird Sonoran Sky Elementary car magnet. Even better, every family that makes a single contribution of $50 or more will receive two (2) child-sized Sonoran Sky cloth face masks.
While we do not know exactly what the 2020-2021 school year will look like, together we can continue to build the Sonoran Sky community that we love.
Reminder: Team Thunderbird is separate and distinct from Classroom Support Funds. CSF provides your classroom teacher with the funds to support classroom specific initiatives, as planned by each grade level. More on this when students return to the campus.
There are many levels of support. Every single dollar helps and is carefully spent on valuable projects that enhance our students’ education. Maintaining a high quality public education depends on the support of our community.
